Our Story

Bethany Zito

Bethany started working in the restaurant industry at age 15 and shortly after knew that baking and pastries were her passion. She has always loved the math and science involved and the ability to play with seasonal flavors and presentation. She graduated from the New England Culinary Institute in 2006 specializing in baking and pastry.

After working for award winning hotels and restaurants around the country, including the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay, the Barbara Lynch Gruppo in Boston, and more recently as the Pastry Chef at The Painted Lady in Newberg, Bethany decided it was time to branch out on her own. She spent two years selling baked goods and breads at local farmer’s markets while waiting for the perfect location to build her dream business: B’s Bake Shoppe. That dream is now a reality!

David Zito

David has been working in professional kitchens since age 16 and has a strong background in classic French and Italian cuisine and techniques.  After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in New York, David also went to join the Barbera Lynch Gruppo where he worked his way up the ranks and met and worked along side Bethany.

After they moved across country to Portland, David honed his skills as Executive Chef at three Portland area restaurants.

David is excited to support Bethany as B’s Bake Shoppe’s General Manager and Chef.
